Painting depicting a battle scene battle of the crusaders with the saracens. Pauthor georg philipp rugendas (1666-1742) - german battle painter and printmaker, student of j. Fischer. Georg philippe rugendas worked partly imitating bourguignon, lembke and tempesta, partly using his own sketches from nature. In 1692 he visited venice and then spent some time in the italian capital rome. On his return to germany he settled in augsburg. During the siege of the latter, i had the opportunity to visually familiarize myself with the general course and individual episodes of the battles. Among the representatives of battle painting, rugendas occupies a very honorable place; his works are distinguished by their confident and correct drawing, composition, full of life and fire, picturesqueness of the whole.
