Chong Ming blue striped cushions

These cushions are made from a wonderful vintage handwoven textile from the Chong ming area of Shanghai. The cushions read as pale blue and they are made up of a darker blue warp and an off-white weft. There is also a red pinstripe. The loom was very narrow so I've sewn 2 pieces together in order to make a larger cushion. The textile is thick and has a wonderful texture as the yarns were also hand-spun. There are lots of lumps and bumps and the occasional tiny brown mark from an oxidised cotton husk. I've photographed one of these just to show you. They are barely noticeable but are a wonderful testament to the construction of the textile. There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
