This is a pair of antique sprung dumbbells. An American, steel wrist training exercise aid by Eugen Sandow, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Eugen Sandow (1867 - 1925) was a famous bodybuilder of the late Victorian period, who created exercise programmes and equipment. A pioneer of muscle display performances, he has been dubbed by some as 'The Father of Modern Bodybuilding.'
