A turned wooden mortar and pestle dating from c.1860. 

Diameter of mortar 18.2cm. Height 8cm. Length of pestle 26.5cm. Diameter 4cm. 

Both the mortar and pestle show signs of considerable use. There is staining to the exterior of the mortar, possible from where it has been left in damp. However, the wood still has a nice patina and there are no splits in either the mortar or pestle.
