This watch comes in a glass backed case. Going back a 100 years ago, salesmen from the watch companies would visit shops to show the latest models and rather house them in cases, where the back would have to be removed, they used these cases which had a snap on back with a glass back so the dial and movement were visible. Shops and prospective owners, would select the dial, movement and then the case they wanted for their watch.

This is an 18s 17J pocket watch made by the Hamilton Watch Co, USA

The watch is running and keeping good time but has NOT been cleaned or serviced by us.

Movement – the nickel full plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement is decorated with damascening and is signed “Hamilton Watch Co, Lancaster Pa, 17 Jewels, Adjusted” # 225592 . The movement is in 90% mint condition – some small marks

Case – the movement comes in a metal open face display case, which has a snap on back and front bezel with glass covers front and back. The movement is a hunter model and is fitted in an open face case, hence the reason why the winder is at the 3 position and not the 12 position

The case has beaded edging and a smooth plain finish and is in 85% mint condition – some small marks and general dull tarnish

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk with red five minute marks. It has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Hamilton Watch Co”. The dial is in 99% mint condition – a small scratch in the centre and a little nibble to the edge of the dial on the lever

The watch is stem wound / lever set
