A fine matched pair of late 19th century betel or areca nut boxes, probably made in Cambodia in the late 19th century. They are in the form Foo Dogs or Temple Lions, and are made of unmarked silver, densely decorated with repoussé and chased detail. There is a character mark on the bottom of each but it is unclear. They are in uncleaned condition.
