A decorative, reclaimed, Victorian cast iron fire insert. The pretty insert has an attractive design with an arched fire opening, surrounded by a delicate repeating border featuring leaves and small diamond shapes. The inner edge has a thinner decorative border. The fire retains its original curved front bars and decorative top plate with a large leaf motif. The insert is of a good size, ideal for a living room or larger bedroom and can be paired with a fire surround. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The fire surround is in good antique condition with some slight damage and signs of wear. There are some small knocks, scratches and casting marks. The concrete fire back has a small chip on the right hand edge. The border around the top plate has some slight damage with a break to the iron. There are some small knocks to the edge of the top plate that can only be seen from the back of the fire. There is some slight tarnish and surface rust to the back of the fire. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert has an elegant and pretty design and would be a fantastic period addition to a home.
