This is an ancient Roman silver denarius, of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, minted in Rome between 169 - 170 AD
Obverse: M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXIIII, "Marcus [Aurelius] Antoninus emperor (Augustus), holder of tribunician power for the 24th time." Head of Marcus Aurelius, laureate, right.
Reverse: SALVTI AVG COS III, "To the health of the emperor (Augustus). Consul for the third time." Salus, draped, standing front, head left, feeding out of patera in the right-hand a snake coiled around an altar and holding a vertical sceptre in left.
