A very ornate, reclaimed, original Victorian cast iron combination fire of the ideal size for a living or dining room. The fire has a beautiful design and is very finely cast, with three differing repeated designs under the mantel. There are circle and flower designs that flow down the legs and the fire has an attractive arched opening with decorative borders. The fire retains its original front bars and has two fixing lugs, one on either side, under the mantel for fixing the fire to the wall. The fire has a kite dating mark on the back. The fire was made on 30th April but the year of manufacture is difficult to read. We can date the fire to between 1868-1883 when this dating system was used. The fire is in good, solid, condition but it does have some signs of age and damage, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The top flap is a replacement made using metal. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. The iron has some scratches, pitting and casting marks. The concrete fire brick has a break through it and a chip to one corner and it has metal straps holding it in place. There is some damage to the iron just above the fire brick where some of the design has broken off and there are some small holes. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very elegant appearance, highlighting the best of Victorian design, and it will add great charm and period character to a home.
