A Late 19th century Anglo–Indian
Répoussé silver salt
Probably Kashmir, India,
Circa 1900

4.2 cm square x 3.5 cm high (approx.) Weight – 40 grams

Raj period,  bulbous form with a square rim on a counter set square base. The whole chased decoration in Rosette Pattern.

A Liberty of London catalogue from the 1890’s advertises Kashmir silver salts (erroneously described Cutch work) as ‘Yuletide gifts’. (Wilkinson P.110) A Kashmir bowl of similar form is illustrated on Wilkinson P. 112
