These beige vintage Yoruba aso oke, sometimes called sanyan, were my first love in vintage textiles. I just love the naturalness of them. They are woven on looms only 4" wide and the strips are sewn together to make a larger cloth. They are decorated with coloured stripes and openwork holes at regular intervals and often with floating supplementary weft stitching. The beige colour comes from the mix of cotton and wild silk from the anaphe moth. This particular textile dates to mid C20 and has a wonderful colour and texture, with the off white stripe giving it a freshness. There are zip fasteners and feather pads
