About this item
These cushions are made from a vintage quilt by the Sami ethnic group, from Northern India. The quilt is formed from several layers of cotton quilted together in tiny stitches 2 or 3 mm long. The top layer of the quilt is a lovey block print in raspberry and blackcurrant colours. The quilt is a good weight and drapes beautifully due to the amount of stitching involved, which would have taken many months to do. Not to be confused with the ubiquitous kantha quilts made from recycled saris. I've backed the cushions with a vintage handloomed textile in a pale blue with white pinstripes, and added handmade pink tassels. There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
