About this item
These cushions are made from a vintage Yoruba aso oke. The cloth is made of strips that were handwoven on a loom around 4" wide. The strips were then sewn together to make a bigger textile. The weave has berry coloured stripes running its length plus berry weft strips at intervals. There are also lace holes and decorative floating weft stitches. Its a complex weave executed beautifully. The yarn is a mix of cotton and wild silk in tones of pinky brown. There are slubs from the handspun silks and cottons, also giving it a nice texture. The aso oke is used for both sides of the cushions and there are zip fasteners and feather pads.
