About this item
A pretty, reclaimed, Victorian painted pine glazed Cardiff door for internal use. The door, likely to date to C.1890s, is well made with elegant gunstock stiles and has a traditional design with two flush panels on one face and recessed panels with mouldings on the other face. Above the bottom panels are nine panels, of varying sizes, with original textured Victorian glass with a flower and leaf design. Please note: some of the panels of glass, including the main centre panel, WILL NOT MEET CURRENT SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND MUST BE CHANGED BEFORE USE. Please check the current safety requirements with your builder to find out which panels must be replaced. We can re-glaze the door for an extra charge, please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote.
The door is in good antique condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The pine has some knocks, chips and indentations, especially to the edges and corners. The door has some holes, marks and light damage where door hardware has been removed. The paint has some stains and marks. The door height may need slight levelling. The hinges have surface rust and some residue paint and are stiff and you may wish to replace them. Please see pictures for condition details. The door has a lovely period appearance and it will make a fantastic feature in a home.
