This is an antique orangery jardiniere. A Scottish, oak and elm country house fireside store or newspaper trough, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850.
Fascinating raised form with wonderful detail Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Quality oak stocks present fine grain interest throughout Rich caramel hues beam from beneath a wax polish finish Generous proportion to the upper, the planter edge with chamfered trim Front and side fascia skilfully accentuated with relief carved diamond forms Raised upon distinctive X-shaped elm legs with peg joints to centre United across the centre with a rolled stretcher railThis is a superb antique orangery jardiniere, with a delightful carved appearance and distinctive legs. Useful throughout the home, from fireside store duty to organising magazines or books. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
