    This is an ancient Roman AE As of emperor Nero, struck at Rome in 65 AD 

    Obverse:  NERO CAESAR AVG GERM IMP; "Nero, Caesar, emperor (Augustus), victor over the Germans, supreme commander (Imperator)" laureate head of Nero facing right

    Reverse:  SPQR/SC "Senate and the People of Rome, by decree of the senate" Victory flying left, holding shield inscribed SPQR, large S C at sides

    A very nice coin with a good portrait and a nice dark green patina

    CULTURE: ROMAN

    DENOMINATION: As (1/16 of a denarius)

    MATERIAL: Bronze

    DATE: 54 - 68 AD (this coin minted in 65 AD

    SIZE: 27.9mm diameter
