About this item
This is a nice medieval silver signet ring, dating to the 13th - 14th century. It is engraved with a knight on caparisoned horseback wearing a great helm and brandishing a sword. The signet appears lightly engraved, so it would have been filled with a black niello enamel (traces remain). The sides of the ring are engraved with a stylised fleur design and the back of the bezel bears a Templar cross. It is an interesting example of courtly jewellery depicting a Knight, in good excavated condition and suitable for wear.
