    About this item

This is a Medieval silver finger ring, dating to the 12th - 13th century AD. The cruciform bezel is set with the original blue glass gemstone with a scratch-engraved inscription. This appears to denote the ring to represent a dignitry of the Khan or Batu Khan. The shape of the ring is a distinctive form from the Golden Horde area, thought to designate a person of distinction or a commander in the court. The ring is a good example of the type. The blue colour of the glass probably indicates the owner is from the Western Half (Blue Horde)
