About this item
This is an ancient Roman silver denarius, of empress Julia Domna the wife of Emperor Septimius Severus, mother to her sons Emperors Caracalla and Geta. This coin was minted at Rome in 208 AD.
Obverse: IVLIA AVGVSTA, "Julia [Flavia] the venerable" Bareheaded bust right, draped
Reverse: HILARITAS, "Joy" Hilaritas standing left with palm & cornucopiae, children to either side of her.
A wonderful coin with a superb portrait and of a nice subject! EF condition
