About this item
This is an ancient Roman Silver Denarius, of Lucius Verus, minted at Rome in 166 AD
Obverse: L VERVS AVG ARM PARTH MAX, "Lucius Verus, emperor (Augustus), conqueror of the Armenians, great conqueror of the Parthians" Head of Lucius Verus, laureate, right.
Reverse: TR P VI IMP IIII COS II, "Holder of tribunician power for the sixth time, supreme commander (Imperator) for the fourth time, consul for the second time" Victory standing right, placing a shield inscribed VIC/PAR in two lines on a palm.
