About this item
A pair of reclaimed, original, stripped pine Georgian shutters, C.1780. The shutters comprise of 4 leaves, 2 on each side, that are hinged so one folds back behind the other when opened. The shutters have two recessed panels per leaf, with beading around them on the front face. The shutters have four large, decorative, metal hinges that have great character. The inner edges of the shutters have a rebated edge so they sit nicely together. The pine has been stripped but the shutters are damp and are not suitable for painting. The shutters have some signs of wear and some damage, commensurate with their considerable age. The shutters have dampness and staining and are not suitable for painting. You may wish to sand the shutters further. There are knocks, chips, scratches and splits in the pine but the shutters are stable and solid. Some cracks can be seen. There is damage to some of the shutter edges where pine has been knocked away. There are some holes and marks from hardware removal. There are some small filled wood knots. There is some paint residue visible. The hinges have surface rust. The heights may need slight levelling. Please see pictures for condition details. The shutters are a lovely example of Georgian design and would add fantastic period character to a window or the shutters could be used for an interior project.
