About this item
This is a fabulous early 19th Century Impressionist Still Life Study Oil on Canvas Painting depicting a Pugin style Pewter Tankard with a glass of freshly poured Ale.
On the table beside them are some cheese, 2 onions, and a bone-handled Silver Knife & fork.
Mounted within a lovely heavily scrolled (later) gesso gilt frame.
Attributes:
Oil on relined canvas
Circa: 1830-1840
The painting was relined during the latter part of the 19th Century and upon closer inspection, there are signs of some previous repair that runs diagonally across the pewter tankard - see images.
We do not personally believe that this minor cosmetic imperfection detracts from the overall beauty of this very early painting, but please be aware that it is present.
