About this item
A charming teapot in the form of a cat, made by Wood & Sons of Burslem, England in approximately the late 1920s. It is from their 'Pussyfoot' range of cat teapots. These were all in the same shape, but had different glazes. This is one of the more unusual 'Good Luck/Good Health' cats. Round the sides and front of the cat's body are transfers of lucky black cats and the words 'Good Luck', 'Good Health' and 'Good Gracious' round the cat's head. The base of the pot bears the Wood's backstamp along with shape and patent numbers. The patent number ends in 26, indicating its registration in 1926.
The pot is in great condition.
