Vintage "Konyak Naga" Ethnic Multi-Strand Necklace
Turquoise blue, coral, black, white & yellow glass trade-beads
Bound cotton clasp with conch shell button fitting
North East India/North West Burma

50cm long (open)
Many hundreds of tiny blue glass trade-beads, hand-threaded along fifty-one strands with slightly larger coral, black, white & yellow coloured glass beads towards the ends of the gathered strands. The ends tightly bound with cotton and with a conch shell button/toggle clasp.
This type of necklace originates among the Konyak Naga tribe, the largest of the Naga ethnic groups of Nagaland which borders Assam in North East India and the Sagaing Region of North West Burma.
