    About this item

A nicely painted watercolour of a fishing scene by surgeon and amateur artist Sir Charles Bell  (1744-1842) who specialised in sketchy landscapes with limited washed in colour. As an artist he is represented in the British Museum - but he is celebrated world-wide as a surgeon and the discoverer of "Bell's Palsy" which affects the facial muscles.....this beautiful example of his work is well preserved as it was found in an album, hence the untouched condition...

    English. C1780-C1800.
