John Rattenbury Skeaping (1901-1980) Horse with jockey up - watercolour - signed and dated '62 . 31 x 41 cm
Watercolour on paper in very good condition, colours remain strong and paper clean, a hint of acid staining across the top of the mount, signed and dated lower right, original washline mount now rather faded, Arthur Ackermann label verso.
John Rattenbury Skeaping, Ra (9 June 1901 – 5 March 1980) was an English sculptor and equine painter and sculptor. He designed animal figures for Wedgwood, and his life-size statue of Secretariat is exhibited at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
