    About this item

    An elegant, Wedgwood, black basalt jug. This shape was known as the helmet shape and this example is decorated with a band of engine turning. It is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1860. This shape first appeared in Wedgwood’s pattern books in the 1790’s and it is a shape which they continued to produce right through into the 20th century, although not in great quantities.

    It is in excellent condition.
