About this item
A small, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip violeteer. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1840. It is also impressed with a large letter ‘A’. Violeteeers, like rose bowls, were used for doing flower arrangements and this would have been used for small flowers such as violets or primroses. The bowl is decorated, in relief, with classical figures, animals and foliage. The pierced lid is decorated with small flowers and acanthus leaves. The reliefs are good quality and the jasper dip is a rich shade of blue. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Height 7.5cm. Diameter 10.4cm. Width 11.5cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
