About this item
A large, and rare, Wedgwood yellow and black jasper dip vase. This is marked “WEDGWOOD ETRURIA ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1895. It is also impressed with a large letter ‘H’ and the number ‘6’. The charming, baluster shaped vase is dipped in a mustard yellow glaze against which the black relief stands out beautifully. The relief consists of stiff leaves to the socle above which is a band of harebells and acanthus. To the top of the vase is a wide band of grapes and vines bordered by scrolls beneath and classically stylised leaves to the rim. The overall effect is stunning. The only fault is the tiniest of chips to the white jasper on the socle but it is so small that it doesn’t even show up in the images. Otherwise it is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Height 25.3cm. Diameter 18.5cm.
