About this item
A rare, early 19th century, Wedgwood yellow and blue jasper violeteer. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1820. It is also lightly impressed with the number ”749”. The white jasper body is dipped in a matt, mustard yellow glaze and this is ornamented with blue relief. To the lid are acanthus leaves and small, stylised flowers and there is a band of classical maidens offering sacrifices to the body of the violeteer. This is an unusual colour combination. There is staining to the base and, unfortunately, one of the handles has been badly restored.
Dimensions: Width 11.5cm. Diameter 10.4cm. Height 7cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
