About this item
A very unusual Wedgwood dust pressed, block printed tile. This is marked, in the casting, “JOSIAH WEDGWOOD & SONS ETRURIA” but the first “E” in Etruria is backwards. It dates from c.1880. The tile, which is printed in blue, shows a young child being fed from a cooking pot, and reads “ENOUGH MEANS HEALTH MORE DISEASE”, suggesting that if one eats to much it will lead to illness. It is set in an unusual frame which is carved with a motto “THESE MERCIES BLESS AND GRANT THAT WE MAY FEAST IN PARADISE WITH THEE”. Both the tile and frame are in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Tile 15.2cm. square. Frame 16.5cm. square.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
