About this item
An eighteenth century, gingerbread mould carved in walnut. This is Dutch and it dates from c.1780. One side is carved with two country gentlemen and the other side is carved with a country woman and a military gentleman. The carving is deep, and well executed, although quite naive in style as these moulds usually were. The mould had started to crack at one end so an extra piece of wood has been attached to stop the crack from spreading. The is a very old repair as the wood has the same colour and patina as the rest of the mould. There is slight staining to the wood, but otherwise the mould is in good condition, and the wood has a good, rich patina.
Dimensions: Length 54.9cm. Width 15cm. Depth 3cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
