    About this item

A large, 19th century gingerbread mould. This is carved, in oak, with a basket of fruit. It is possibly Dutch and dates from c.1850.  The design, which is unusual for a gingerbread mould, is quite well carved and would turn out well. In the early recipes for gingerbread it was not baked, like it is today, but it was boiled and then poured into the moulds to set.

    Dimensions: Height 33.2cm. Width 27.2cm. Depth 2.1cm.

Condition: There is some dark staining to the wood and there are about a dozen woodworm holes. The worm has been treated and is no longer active. The wood is sound, with no cracks or chips. A metal eye has been put into the back of the mould so that it can be hung.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
