About this item
Half of a two part wooden butter mould carved with a pineapple. We wouldn’t usually put half of a piece onto our website but the carving in this mould is just so good that it was warranted. It is extremely well carved, in beechwood, and it dates from c.1820. The wood has a lovely colour and patina. The pineapple was the Georgian symbol of welcome and it is a design that was often seen in moulds and used to welcome your guests to the table. This is a really fine example.
It is in excellent condition.
