FC0183 A RECLAIMED ORIGINAL ART DECO CAST IRON COMBINATION FIRE

A simple and elegant, reclaimed, Art Deco cast iron bedroom combination fire. The fire has a nice design, typical of the era, with decorative Art Deco border and a shaped smoke hood. The fire is completely original and has its fire stool and ash pan cover. The front is open and did not come with front bars, a style favoured in the Art Deco era. The fire has been blacked and polished and the iron has a nice finish. There are two fixing lugs, one on either side under the mantel, for fixing the fire to the wall. The fire is in good condition with some signs of age, as expected of reclaimed antiques, and it is now suitable for decorative purposes only. The fire has had some repaired damage. The side of the fire has been damaged and it has had a plate bolted on to strengthen it. The break can be seen but you could add some filler if you wish, to improve the appearance of the crack. The left hand side has a chip out of it, just above the fixing lug. There is a large crack to the fire brick. The iron has some knocks and chips. The back has surface rust, as expected. The mantel screws are new. The back of the mantel has some knocks and chips out of it. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a design that would suit many styles of property and it is a very nice example of Art Deco design.
