FC0206 RECLAIMED ART NOUVEAU CAST IRON COMBINATION FIRE DECORATIVE

A very decorative cast iron, reclaimed, Art Nouveau combination fire for decorative purposes. The fire is very ornate and has a design typical of the era, with poppies along the crossbar and down the legs. The fire has a pretty, shaped, smoke hood with vines and leaves. The fire retains the front bars that are curved and have scrolling finials. There are two fixing lugs, for fixings to attach the fire to the wall, one on each side, under the mantel and a tab at the bottom of each foot. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a good finish. The original smoke flap is missing and has been replaced with a wooden one, sprayed black, and therefore the fire is suitable for DECORATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. The back of the fire has a registered design dating number, RD 331211, dating it to 1898.

The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The cast iron has some knocks, pitting and casting marks. The fire brick has some cracks and knocks but it is stable. The mantel screws do not sit totally flush. The back of the fire has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very pretty appearance and is of a good size for a bedroom. The fire is the ideal item for adding period character to a fireplace.
